About Dan Shieshie Foundation

Dan Shieshie Matakayia, a survivor of domestic violence (acid burns) registered the Dan Shieshie Foundation (DSF) number (OP.218/051/19-048/11409) as a non-governmental, non-profitable and non-political organization formed in September 2019. The sole objective of the Foundation is to advance advocacy and elimination of Gender Based Violence (GBV) in Kenya and beyond. In 2020, a strategy of partnership with professional mental health service providers (Professional Counselors) was adopted for realizing the core objective of the Foundation. Telesky Limited enhanced this collaboration by providing Call Centre for linking male GBV victims with the Counsellors via 1198. The foundation operates a 24-hour GBV Rapid Response Call Centre and a Toll Free Helpline 1198 that is manned by a dedicated team of Tele-Counsellors who provide tele-phonic guidance and counselling to men and boys, victims and survivors of GBV/Domestic Violence. Men have always suffered in silence but with 1198 they have found a safe place to pour their daily issues.
