About Human Needs Project (HNP) - Kenya

The Human Needs Project - Kenya (HNP) is a nongovernmental organisation registered in 2012 under the NGO Coordination board. The mission of HNP is to empower the people living in urban informal settlements to break the cycle of poverty by availing to them the essential services of Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH), Skills Training with Job Linkages, Financial Inclusion through Savings & Credit Scheme, as well as Entrepreneurship Skills Training. Further, these services are offered under one roof in financially and environmentally sustainable Town Centres, eliminating the time wastage associated with looking for different services at different locations. Through HNP's pilot Town Centre, known as Kibera Town Centre, the concept has been proved, impressive impact data recorded, learning documented, and HNP is now ready to scale to other urban informal settlements in Kenya and around the world, after setting up auxiliary centres in Kibera, one of Africa's largest urban slum.
