SEEWO is a registered Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that aims to empower Kenyan women economically, with a focus on addressing financial inclusion and supporting women who lack access to traditional banking services. SEEWO provides economic empowerment to Kenyan women through various initiatives, including: 1. Facilitating financing for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) owned by Kenyan women. 2. Promoting and supporting members in launching and sustaining their businesses and projects. 3. Offering integrated education, training, and work experience to both young and older women who lack formal qualifications or access to traditional banking. SEEWO's key programs include: 1. Table Banking: SEEWO implements a group funding strategy, where members meet monthly to pool their savings, loan repayments, and contributions. They can then borrow from this collective fund for short or long-term needs, based on individual interests. 2. Business Startups: SEEWO promotes and supports its members in launching and sustaining their businesses and projects, ensuring a stable income source for their households. 3. Community Training: SEEWO offers integrated education, training, and work experience to both young and older women who lack formal qualifications or access to traditional banking. 4. Market Access: SEEWO ensures that farmers have access to a reliable market for their produce and receive full payments after covering production costs. 5. Education Booster Program: SEEWO encourages members to deposit monthly instalments, earning an interest of 50% of the deposited amount. It aims to enhance access to quality education for children and disseminate knowledge to all members. 6. Agribusiness Program: SEEWO provides training in Income Generating Activities (IGA), offer farming facilities, inspect farms, and organize agricultural extension services. 7. Capacity Building: SEEWO conducts regular training sessions to strengthen the skills and abilities of the communities they serve, helping them adapt to a rapidly changing world. 8. Share Capital: Housing Share Capital is raised through SEEWO shareholders, offering them a share of profits and potential capital gains through dividends and share sales. SEEWO's target beneficiaries are Kenyan women who lack access to traditional banking services and financial resources, and the organization has achieved significant growth over the past decade, with members spanning across Kericho county. SEEWO's initiatives have contributed to advancing gender equality and women's leadership in financial services and regulatory institutions, and have the potential to add $12 trillion to global annual GDP by 2025 if women participated equally in financial services. SEEWO's work aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality, which aims to empower women and girls and achieve gender equality by 2030.
