Kakamega Environmental Community Based Organisation

KECBO is an environmental community based organization registered in Shinyalu constituency , Kakamega county. The organization empowers farmers and artisanal gold miners through rehabilitation and restoration of land previously destroyed by mining activities and converting them into viable arable land that supports solar powered aquaculture, tree farming activities and bamboo farming. We create natural carbon sinks thus mitigating climate change. Besides these we empower artisanal gold miners to stop the use of hazardous mercury in their gold recovery processes by providing them with skills and expertise with environmental friendly technology that promotes safe mining with good environmental foot print.
