Intervention Areas
Target Population
Problem Statement
Mwiki Primary faces a sanitation crisis with a pupil-toilet ratio of 1:93 and dilapidated facilities. Inadequate MHM support leads to high absenteeism among girls in this informal settlement area.
Proposed Solution
The project will construct/rehabilitate WASH facilities, provide 5-year reusable pads to 1,870 girls, and conduct MHM/SRHR training for students, teachers, and the community.
Expected Impact
Expected impacts include improved school retention and performance, reduced waterborne diseases, and environmental conservation through the use of biodegradable hygiene products.
Sustainability Plan
Sanitation facilities will be maintained by the school using locally available labor and materials. Reusable pads reduce recurrent costs, while the County Government provides technical oversight.
