Problem Statement

Prevalence of FGM remains high due to deep-seated cultural norms. Girls lack safe spaces and the agency to advocate for their rights, leaving them vulnerable to the practice and early marriage.

Proposed Solution

The program trains girls in advocacy and leadership, empowering them to engage with duty bearers. It establishes safe spaces and community networks to protect girls at risk of FGM.

Expected Impact

Key impacts include a reduction in FGM prevalence, decreased stigma, and the amplification of girls' voices. The project fosters a community-wide shift toward protecting the rights of the girl child.

Sustainability Plan

Sustainability is achieved by building the capacity of local girl champions and engaging stakeholders to maintain the conversation. Community-led safe spaces ensure protection mechanisms persist beyond the project.
