Project Summary

Period Pal enhances menstrual health management (MHM) for adolescent girls and young women (18-24 years). It creates support systems to end period shame and improve access to sanitary commodities.

Intervention Areas

Menstrual Health & Hygiene

Target Population

Low-Income Individuals & FamiliesVulnerable or Marginalized Populations (General)

Problem Statement

Period poverty and stigma prevent girls from managing menstruation with dignity. Lack of access to products and information leads to shame and reduced resilience among young women.

Proposed Solution

Establish pad banks and support groups for young women. Provide MHM education and commodities to 500 needy beneficiaries. Empower older girls to mentor younger adolescents (12-17 years).

Expected Impact

Increased uptake of MHM information and commodities. Reduction in period shame and improved management of menstrual health. Establishment of functional, community-run pad banks.

Sustainability Plan

The project leverages social peer networks to champion MHM. It promotes long-term solutions like menstrual cups and empowers girls with income-generating skills (e.g., soap making) to support the pad banks financially.
