Target Population
Problem Statement
Public schools suffer from dilapidated sanitation facilities and lack of water, leading to disease and absenteeism. Girls are disproportionately affected due to inadequate menstrual hygiene support.
Proposed Solution
Construct modern toilets, hand-washing stations, and changing rooms. Provide reusable pads and conduct comprehensive hygiene (CHAST/PHAST) and MHM training.
Expected Impact
Improved school attendance and academic performance. Reduction in waterborne diseases and teenage pregnancies. Creation of a dignified and safe learning environment for all students.
Sustainability Plan
Facilities are handed over to School Management Boards for maintenance. The use of long-lasting reusable pads (5 years) eliminates recurring costs, while government oversight ensures standards are met.
