About Amandla Mek Foundation

Amandla MEK Foundation is a legally registered, community based organization in Kenya that was founded in 2019 with an overall goal of promoting social, economic and political empowerment of vulnerable women and girls in Nairobi, Kajiado, Samburu, Kisumu and Kiambu counties through education, health, economic empowerment, leadership and governance and climate change mitigation. To achieve its objectives, the organization works with a number of actors namely the government, the private sector, the academia and the civil society organization. In promoting the realization of the reproductive health outcomes, the organization empowers the women and girls on HIV/AIDS management, reproductive health, sexual gender based violence and coping with mental health disorders. To enhance the realization of quality and inclusive education among vulnerable women and young girls, the organization focuses on promoting education, access, retention, transition and sustainability. On promoting employability and entrepreneurship culture, the targeted women and young girls are trained on business development skills, market linkage, market access and linkage to affordable credit. The organization also promotes women and young girls’ participation in leadership through training on exemplary leadership skills, public participation, county planning and budgeting process and social accountability. The women are also engaged in addressing the sting of climate change through tree growing and advocacy initiatives on climate change mitigation strategies and smart agricultural processes.
