About Fulbright Education Centre

Fulbright Education Centre is a community based organization with its office in rural region Pap Yamo village -Rabar Market, siaya county Kenya, It was started in 2014 with main aim of addressing the gap in the early child education sector with in the community with long term plan of advancement to higher levels of education with in the community and the country at large. The organization is legally registered with government of Kenya’s ministry of East Africa Community, Labour and social protection-Department of social services as a community based organization, Registration number SC/SYA/WW/CBO/2670. Certificate number: 99941. Fulbright Education Centre provides Educational, social and psychological support to the underprivileged destitute children in the society, The above is in line with the Government of Kenya policy of Basic Education Act, “Education for all” .Under the 2010 constitution of Kenya It recognizes that: every person has the right to education in Article 43.1.f and states that: every child has the right to free and compulsory education in Article 53.1.b. And in Article 53.1.d It says, every child has the right to be protected from abuse, neglect, harmful cultural practices, all forms of violence, inhuman treatment and punishment and hazardous or exploitive labour. This therefore means that all the needy and destitute children in the society have a right to quality, affordable and accessible education as equally envisaged in Fulbright Education Centre’s Agenda. The Basic Education Act adopted in January 2013 guarantees the implementation of the right to free and compulsory basic education (Part IV). It provides for the establishment of pre-primary, primary and secondary schools, adult and continuing education center as well as special and integrated schools for learners with disabilities (Article 28).It is on this legislation that Fulbright Education Centre was established to be in congruent with the aspirations of the government to establish pre-primary education Centre in the community.
