About Murua Girl Child Education Program

Murua Girl Child Education Program has been operational since January 2018 and is committed to providing education and empowerment to girls in pastoralist communities across multiple Kenyan counties, including Narok, Samburu, Kajiado, Isiolo, and Marasbit. Currently, the program operates in Narok East, West, South, and Samburu East, with an ambitious goal to extend its reach to all five counties by January 2025. The program aims to create thriving indigenous communities that are resilient to climate change, promote gender equality, and free from harmful practices. Its mission involves supporting indigenous communities, advocating for gender equality, and providing training, resources, and opportunities to address climate change, enhance resilience, promote education, and eradicate harmful practices. The primary objectives of the Murua Girl Child Education Program include improving education, stopping harmful practices, promoting gender equality, and building climate resilience within Kenya's pastoralist communities, with a vision to empower girls to be agents of positive change.
