N/AAbout Padheaven Initiative
Pad Heaven Initiative is social enterprise based in Kenya that is working to provide access to affordable sanitary pads for girls and women who cannot afford them. We produce reusable sanitary pads that are affordable and can last up to two years. These pads are made from locally-sourced materials and are designed to be comfortable and easy to use. We work with local schools, community groups, and other organizations to distribute the sanitary pads to girls and women who need them. During the distributions, we educate school girls on menstrual hygiene management and reproductive health as well as and how to use the reusable pads effectively. We employ and train local women to produce the sanitary pads, providing them with income and skills that can help them to support their families and communities. We have trained 15 inmates at a local maximum prison on how to produce the pads and now we train girls and women in different communities to make the products for themselves and their communities. Our initiative advocates for menstrual health and hygiene education in schools and communities and works to reduce the stigma surrounding menstruation. We have published the first Menstrual Hygiene Management book Path to Womanhood which we are pushing the national Government to push into primary schools for every girl to have the correct information at hand We are are working to break down the barriers that prevent girls and women from accessing the resources they need to manage their menstrual cycle with dignity and without interruption.
