About Pwani Youth Network

Organizational Description: Pwani Youth Network Pwani Youth Network (PYN) is a youth-led, community-driven organization founded in 2012 and based in Kenya’s coastal region. The organization was established to address the pressing social, economic, and environmental challenges faced by young people and vulnerable communities, with a strong focus on education access, youth empowerment, and sustainable development. PYN works to create a society where all children and youth have equal opportunities to learn, thrive, and actively contribute to national development. The organization implements holistic, evidence-based programs that tackle barriers to education, unemployment, health, and social inclusion. Its target beneficiaries include school-going children, out-of-school youth, marginalized women, and underserved communities in urban, rural, and peri-urban areas. Over the years, PYN has implemented impactful projects across Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Siaya, and Homa Bay counties, focusing on three key thematic areas: Education and Skills Development: Re-enrolling school dropouts to complete formal education. Establishing and improving Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centers to enhance foundational learning. Providing technical and vocational training to equip youth with employable skills. Health and Wellbeing: Promoting adolescent sexual and reproductive health (ASRH) awareness and services. Offering life skills education to reduce teenage pregnancies and gender-based violence. Youth Leadership and Advocacy: Empowering young people to participate in decision-making processes and advocate for policies that advance equity, education, and social justice. Building community resilience through environmental conservation and climate action initiatives. PYN operates under a set of core values, including integrity, inclusivity, empowerment, innovation, sustainability, and collaboration. These values guide the organization in fostering partnerships with government agencies, local communities, NGOs, and international donors, enabling the design and implementation of scalable, sustainable programs. To date, PYN has impacted thousands of children and young people, providing them with opportunities to pursue education, gain practical skills, and access mentorship and employment pathways. By addressing the root causes of poverty and educational exclusion, PYN contributes to national development goals and global priorities such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). Through innovative programs and strong community engagement, Pwani Youth Network continues to champion equitable education access, youth empowerment, and long-term community transformation.
