About Sombeza Foundation

Sombeza Foundation is a non-profit community organization that was established in June 2022 and officially registered by the Registrar of Societies in Kenya in February 2023. The name "Sombeza" is derived from the Mijikenda language and translates to "push up" - a term that describes the Foundation's mission to provide support to vulnerable & marginalized individuals and communities to help them reach new heights. The Foundation is dedicated to addressing the problems and challenges faced by local communities within its programmatic areas through innovative evidence-based program initiatives that focus on youth and women's development. By promoting social innovation and social entrepreneurship, the Foundation aims to empower individuals and enhance their employability and active citizenship and promote peaceful community cohabitation. While its programs are focused on Kilifi County, the Foundation also engages in strategic interventions across the Coastal Counties of Kenya to maximize its impact and support more individuals and communities in need.
