ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND St. Michael Community Centre is a Community Based Organization (CBO) dedicated to working with disadvantaged communities through campaigns, advocacy, awareness, capacity building focused on poverty alleviation that causes suffering to the very same target communities. The organization was established in 2016 and duly registered as a Community Based Organization in 2017. The suffering of disadvantaged communities has for long been blamed on the culture of apathy, ignorance and lack of proper community leadership that can guide such communities and give strategic direction to counter the many challenges they encounter in their daily lives. There has never been a participatory platform where the community would discuss their issues and find solutions, a God ordained potential that has never been realized. Networking and strategic partnerships are the corner stones of our organization's engagement that enable collaboration, linking and even learning. A working relationship exists between different communities, with the county and national government's relevant agencies and departments, and corporate bodies to help realize our goals and objectives. As an organization, our strategy envisions equal opportunities to all, enabling children, youth, families, and community members to live and enjoy life to its fullness. In this case we work with like-minded partners to improve livelihoods and resilience, care for the environment. Unjust policies and practices are challenged through lobbying, advocacy, and awareness work. Our Shield Foundation has its work spread within Muranga County, with the head office situated at Mahua-ini Near Kaweru shopping Centre in Murang'a County.
