Eldoret sex workers alliance started in 2014 was registered as self help group as shuja support group. And later registered as a CBO in 2020 as star ladies of hope Eldoret as the registered name but operational name is Eldoret Sex Workers Alliance. It's an organization led by sex workers for Sex Workers. It's a non profitable organization which was formed to accelerate Advocacy efforts towards Sexual reproduction health, human rights for Sex Workers and HIV / STIs prevention treatment and care in Uasin Gishu county in Eldoret. It started with five members who saw the need of addressing issues of violences that was so rampered in sex workers who were being killed by unknown people pretending to be clients of sex workers. And arbitrary arrest from county Police men(Askaris) , rape , stigma and discrimination from family members and friends and neighbors hence making sex workers very vulnerable to violence and killings. As a member of Kenya Sex Workers Alliance, ESWA has managed to address issues of violence and other stigma and discrimination related cases. ESWA operates in six sub counties in Uasin Gishu and the neighbouring boarders, particularly in pursuit of it's vision , mission and objectives of provisions, creating awareness, sensitization, education and development programs to sex workers through peer and community engagements. Vision:- An open Society that respect and recognizes the rights of sex workers. Mission:- A Sex Workers community that is holistically empowered through access to services and opportunity. Objectives:- Our focus is on two curative programs. 1)- Advocacy 2)- Wellbeing. This helps to drive out objectives; To ensure access to comprehensive health, legal and social services for Sex Workers To strengthen services with an objective of improving county coordination in regards to sex workers movement rights.
