About The Football Foundation for Africa
The Football Foundation for Africa (FFA) is a pan-African platform advancing football as infrastructure for governance reform, youth development, and inclusive growth. Founded to address structural gaps in African football ecosystems, FFA operates at the intersection of sport, public policy, investment, and grassroots system-building.
At the core of FFA’s work is the Football as Infrastructure (FaI) model, which positions football ecosystems—academies, leagues, tournaments, and community hubs—not merely as entertainment platforms, but as deployable social and economic infrastructure. Through this approach, football becomes a channel for delivering public goods including health services, safeguarding standards, education pathways, workforce readiness, and community resilience.
FFA operates through four interconnected platforms:
- Africa Football Business Summit (AFBS) – the continent’s leading football policy and investment convening, bringing together ministers, federations, investors, development actors, and industry leaders to align strategy and accelerate ecosystem reform.
- Africa Football Development Network (AFDN) – a grassroots delivery and capacity-building network connecting football communities across multiple countries, serving as the implementation backbone for pilots, governance strengthening, and ecosystem development.
- Africa Football Business Show (AFBShow) – a year-round conversation and ecosystem-building platform that translates summit dialogue into ongoing engagement, practical insights, and structured collaboration across the African football industry.
- Africa Football Industry Networked Innovation Community (AFINIC) – a policy and research community producing white papers, ministerial briefings, and applied governance frameworks to support evidence-based decision-making.
Through these integrated platforms, FFA strengthens institutional capacity, supports investment readiness, facilitates cross-ministerial dialogue, and builds structured partnerships between grassroots actors and global innovation providers.
FFA’s long-term vision is to build African football systems that retain value, protect young people, strengthen institutions, and position sport as a strategic pillar of sustainable development across the continent.
