About WVP - kenya

Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of some of the most vulnerable children and youth living in communities affected by HIV and poverty in Kenya. ? We began our work in 2005 after a small group of European and Kenyan youths met in the Bondo district of Kenya. We had all been working with local non-profit organizations in the area and shared a vision. A vision to give children and youth in Kenya a fair start to life. Dissatisfied with how most non-governmental organizations (NGO) and charities in the area went about to support vulnerable children, we decided to get together and set up an organisation. In 2006 we got registered as a charity in the United Kingdom. We implement our programmes in close partnership with two local community based organisations in Kenya. WVP Kenya in Kenya is now not linked in anyway with WVP UK after the two founding groups parted ways due to the matter of LGBT. The Kenya team, Bondo thought it was not ideal to introduce LGBT to the children we were sponsoring since we are a conservative community while the whites from the UK tried to push it on us threatening to cut funds leading to a fallout and eventual end of funding. we however didn't have any problem with LGBT persons in personal capacity.
