Our implementing partner is Viwandani Comprehensive Community Organization (VICCO). This CBO is formed by the youth residents of Viwandani's 13 villages who want to make significant and sustainable improvements in their environment, health, and livelihoods. Our collaboration has been going on for two years and counting.

Project Summary

The Aqua Empower Project establishes a community-owned water business in Viwandani to address scarcity. It provides affordable, clean water to 5,000+ residents, improving health and sanitation while creating local jobs.

Problem Statement

Viwandani residents lack access to clean water due to scarcity and cartels, leading to waterborne diseases and poor sanitation.

Proposed Solution

Establish a sustainable, community-managed water business to provide consistent, affordable clean water and promote hygiene education.

Expected Impact

Reduced waterborne diseases (cholera/typhoid) for 5,000+ people, improved sanitation, local job creation, and community ownership of resources.

Sustainability Plan

The business model is financially sustainable through water sales. Profits are reinvested for refills and expansion, with volunteer distribution lowering costs.
