Problem Statement

Kilifi faces severe food insecurity due to unreliable rain and reliance on maize, which fails frequently. Poverty drives deforestation as communities turn to charcoal burning for survival.

Proposed Solution

Promote drought-tolerant crops (green grams, cassava) and agroforestry (Neem, Tamarind). Provide technical training on CSA, water harvesting, and agribusiness to 100 farmers.

Expected Impact

Improved food security for 100 households and projected income of KES 750,000 - 4M. Planting of 100-200 trees. Adoption of sustainable farming practices and reversal of environmental degradation.

Sustainability Plan

The project aims for self-financing through the sale of farm produce. A seed banking system ensures farmers have inputs for subsequent seasons. Farmers are expected to scale up acreage using generated profits.
