'-Otto Benecker Foundation uses a cluster (network) model that brings together various stakeholders towards solving a community concerns in order to create larger impact. Currently, Otto Benecker Foundation, is the lead organization and funds manager for the adolescent girl’s power project in Mathare. Key stakeholders targeted in this project include Area Advisory Council, County Ward administrative Office, County and Sub-County commissioners’ office, health Sub-Committees, Constituency Development Fund office, Peace Committees, Youth and sports office, Interest/Business associations, and civil society network collaborations that are theme-based e.g child-protection, health, environment, security, education among others. -Through network coordination meetings, this project intends to initiate and establish partnerships that will coordinate various interest areas (e.g health, education, child-protection, budgeting e.t.c). -This will be borrowed from experience and evidence based on current network model that brings various partners together in our current Adolescent Girl’s Power Project in Kasarani sub-county (Mathare).

Project Summary

This project empowers Dagoretti communities to advocate for their rights. By training peer leaders in advocacy and social audit, and engaging youth through sports, it builds a knowledgeable citizenry capable of holding duty bearers accountable for better service delivery.

Problem Statement

Communities in Dagoretti lack the knowledge and skills to advocate for their rights, influence policy, or hold government accountable for service delivery.

Proposed Solution

Train community peer leaders in advocacy, policy processes, and social audit, and utilize sports/theatre to engage youth in civic action.

Expected Impact

Increased community participation in policy making, better service delivery from duty bearers, and empowered citizens articulating their issues.

Sustainability Plan

Sustainability is built on locally identified mentors, talent usage, and community organizing structures that foster ownership.
