Project Partners Inc
Our main partner in this project is VICCO (Viwandani Comprehensive Community Organization). This is a local CBO formed by the residents who have lived there all their lives and are intimate with community issues and how to tackle them. They have been critical in helping Conscious Kenya develop our Green Play Project.
Project Summary
The Green Play Project reclaims illegal dumpsites in Viwandani into 39 safe playgrounds. It provides 3,000+ children, including those with disabilities, clean spaces to play, free from hazardous waste and disease risks.

Target Population
Problem Statement
Children in Viwandani lack safe play spaces due to illegal dumping, exposing them to hazardous waste and diseases like cholera and typhoid.
Proposed Solution
Reclaim and convert 39 illegal dumpsites into secure, fenced playgrounds across 13 villages to provide safe play areas for children.
Expected Impact
Provision of safe play areas for 3,000+ children, reduced exposure to diseases/hazardous waste, and social inclusion for disabled children.
Sustainability Plan
Playgrounds are fenced to prevent re-dumping. Community champions, youth leaders, and residents enforce protection through community policing.
