Project Summary

This project increases access to education for girls in Narok East and Samburu East. It focuses on enrollment, retention, and transition by addressing socio-economic and cultural barriers.

Problem Statement

Girls in pastoralist communities face low literacy levels due to cultural barriers like FGM and early marriage, as well as economic hardships that prioritize boys' education.

Proposed Solution

Improve school infrastructure to create a conducive learning environment. Engage the community to change attitudes towards girls' education and address cultural barriers.

Expected Impact

Increased enrollment and retention of girls in school. Improved literacy levels and agency for girls, opening up future economic opportunities.

Sustainability Plan

Infrastructure improvements provide long-term benefits. Community behavior change regarding the value of girls' education ensures sustained enrollment beyond the project.
