Target Population

Low-Income Individuals & FamiliesVulnerable or Marginalized Populations (General)

Problem Statement

Encroachment on Lake Victoria's wetlands degrades ecosystems, reduces fish stocks leading to 'sex for fish' practices, and forces women to travel further for water, increasing exposure to GBV.

Proposed Solution

Conduct advocacy/awareness campaigns using Community Participatory Educational Theatre (CPET) and short films to promote wetland conservation and gender rights.

Expected Impact

Improved community knowledge on wetland conservation, empowered women/girls regarding their rights, and reduced gender-based violence and infant mortality.

Sustainability Plan

Beneficiaries become 'Trainers of Trainees' to continue sensitization. The organization will pursue resource mobilization and partnerships to scale up.
