Problem Statement
Rapid deforestation and land degradation in semi-arid counties threaten livelihoods and food security. Women and youth are disproportionately affected by the lack of economic opportunities and climate shocks.
Proposed Solution
Plant 150,000 trees and train 500 women/youth in agroforestry and nursery management. Establish women-led tree nurseries as green enterprises to sell seedlings and timber products.
Expected Impact
Restoration of 1,000 hectares of degraded land. Economic empowerment of women and youth through green jobs. Enhanced food security and household incomes from commercial tree products.
Sustainability Plan
Community ownership through women-led CBOs managing nurseries. Commercialization of tree products (fruits, timber) creates self-sustaining revenue streams. Partnerships with county governments ensure institutional support.
