About Imarika Foundation

Imarika Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Kenya, dedicated to uplifting and empowering communities in the coastal region. Established in October 2015, the foundation operates under the umbrella of Imarika DT Sacco, with a primary focus on propagating corporate social responsibility initiatives. The Imarika Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for vulnerable communities across the coastal region through targeted interventions in five key thematic areas: 1. Education: The foundation believes in the transformative power of education and is committed to ensuring that bright, yet underprivileged students have access to quality schooling. Through scholarship programs, mentorship initiatives, guidance and counselling services, and financial literacy programs in collaboration with Imarika DT Sacco, the foundation aims to institutionalize and modernize education, thereby paving the way for a brighter future for young learners. 2. Health: Recognizing the importance of good health in fostering thriving communities, the foundation conducts various health initiatives, including medical camps, eye camps, anti-jigger campaigns, and health education sessions. Additionally, the foundation provides sanitary dignity packs to adolescent girls and boys in 35 primary schools across Kilifi County. By raising awareness about health issues and empowering individuals with knowledge about nutrition, disease prevention, and healthy lifestyles, the foundation seeks to improve overall health outcomes in the region. 3. Environmental Conservation & Protection: Imarika Foundation is committed to safeguarding the natural environment for future generations. Through tree planting initiatives, waste management programs, and advocacy efforts, the foundation works to preserve biodiversity, mitigate climate change, and promote sustainable environmental practices. 4. Agri-business: Recognizing the vital role of agriculture in the region's economy, Imarika Foundation supports schools and youth groups with training, value addition, and market access initiatives in the agribusiness sector. By promoting sustainable agricultural practices and facilitating market linkages, the foundation aims to enhance agricultural productivity, increase incomes, and improve livelihoods for rural communities. 5. Disaster & Emergency Relief: In times of crisis, Imarika Foundation stands ready to provide emergency aid and relief assistance to communities affected by natural disasters such as floods, droughts, and fire breakouts in schools. Through emergency aid distribution and counselling trainings, the foundation endeavours to support affected communities in their recovery and rebuilding efforts. Overall, Imarika Foundation is dedicated to making a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of individuals and families in the coastal region, guided by principles of equity, sustainability, and community empowerment.
