Project Summary

The Wajir Pastoralist Women Empowerment project supports women in Bute to diversify livelihoods. It promotes sustainable businesses in agriculture and livestock value addition to build economic resilience.

Problem Statement

Pastoralist women rely on traditional herding, which is vulnerable to climate change. They face limited income options, lack of property rights, and gender-based violence.

Proposed Solution

Provide skills training in alternative livelihoods and sustainable land management. Establish digital resource centers and facilitate market linkages for livestock products.

Diversified income sources and increased economic stability for women. Enhanced climate resilience and adoption of sustainable practices. Reduction in GBV through women's economic empowerment.

Sustainability Plan

Women-led enterprises and cooperatives generate independent revenue. Capacity building for local leaders ensures community ownership, while policy advocacy secures long-term government support.
